By air and public transport:

Train timetables can be found at http://www.ns.nl/en.  Info on paying via contactless debit/credit card is available at https://www.ns.nl/en/travel-information/check-in-check-out/debit-card

From Eindhoven Airport:  Bus from Eindhoven Airport to Eindhoven Station, train from Eindhoven Station to Deurne Station

At Eindhoven Airport, leave the terminal and look for the bus stop just outside of it for buses 400 and 401.  You can take either of these to Eindhoven Station.  It’s a 25 minute trip- please see ticket purchasing info here:  https://www.bravo.info/english/tickets, including information on how to travel by contactless debit/credit card.

At Eindhoven station, go to the yellow ticket machines and buy a ticket to ‘Deurne’, or use your contactless debit/credit card as detailed above on the NS site.  Make sure to check in by tapping the paper ticket or your card against the yellow check in pillars (detailed instructions and photo in the Schiphol directions below.)  The trip from Eindhoven Station to Deurne is 2 stops, and 16-22 minutes depending on if you catch an Intercity or Sprinter (it doesn’t matter which one you catch – the Sprinters, despite the name, just take a bit longer, as they “sprint” between lots of smaller stations, while the Intercitys generally do not stop at those smaller stations. )

For both train types it is best to begin gathering your things and heading to the door when the train leaves Helmond, as this is 7 to 9 minutes before reaching Deurne (depending on if you are on an Intercity or a Sprinter.)  Please note that on the Sprinter there is one extra stop after Helmond called Helmond Browhuis, be careful not to disembark here by accident.  Make sure you also check out by tapping your ticket/card against the pillars at Deurne.

Pickups/dropoffs will be arranged via Deurne station only – we will ask for your travel information a week or two before to arrange schedules, and ask you to please indicate in your registration if you think you will need a pickup and/or dropoff.  Please note you might need to wait a short while at Deurne, but we will try to minimise the delays.

From Schiphol (AMS) Airport:  Direct train from Schiphol to Deurne Station, in the direction of Venlo

Follow the ‘train’ signs to the central hall of the airport.  The easiest option is to use your contactless debit/credit card to check in/out of the trains- info available at the NS link above.  If you cannot/do not want to do this, then at the yellow ticket machines, you can buy a paper ticket for a small extra fee, or an OV chipcard for 7.50 and load credit on it (please note you need a minimum 20 EUR credit on the card to travel by train.)  If you don’t think you’ll do any additional travel in NL then the paper ticket is the most straightforward option if contactless is not an option for you.  Purchase a single ticket, be careful not to accidentally purchase a return as the returns are for the same day.

If you do use an ov card, we recommend loading 50 EUR onto it- this will allow you to have enough credit for the train trips to and from site.  (We recommend loading more if you are planning on doing more traveling around Amsterdam or NL, though in this case a contactless would be much easier.)  You can get the leftover balance refunded by filling out this form https://www.ov-chipkaart.nl/en/credit-refund

Once you have your ticket or ov chipcard if needed, make sure to check in at the little stands near the platforms by placing your ticket, chipcard, or contactless card against the check in stand where indicated- you’ll hear a beep when it has checked you in.

Take the escalator down to the train platform- the trains to Venlo/Deurne are usually at platforms 3-4, but make sure to check the signs before going down the escalator to ensure the train hasn’t switched platforms, this happens fairly frequently at Schiphol.  Please note everyone needs to check in, no matter whether you’re traveling contactless, with a paper ticket, or with an ov chipcard.

Here is what the check in stands look like:

Take the Venlo train to station Deurne – the trip is 1h47m.  The stop before Deurne is Helmond, which you will reach 7 minutes before Deurne.  When the train leaves Helmond, it’s a good time to gather your things and make your way to the doors to ensure you can disembark at Deurne.  Make sure you check out the same way you checked in before leaving the station.  This is especially important if you are traveling via contactless as otherwise you will be charged the maximum traveling fee.

By taxi:

We strongly recommend *not* picking up a taxi from the taxi ranks at Schiphol Airport- this will be extremely expensive.  However, if you can get a group of people together (at least 4 recommended), Centrale Schiphol Taxi has reasonable rates.  More details can be found at the below website- please contact them directly for a quote.
